Italian label Curtis Electronix brings killer electro and breaks jams to the fore via hardware head CEM3340, plus two remixes by DJ Overdose and Detroit's Filthiest. ‘Born To Make Beats’ featuring 2030 sums up his obsessive approach, a life spent tweaking parameters of a fleet of synths in the studio. Musically it is twelve tracks of future-facing electro, with an attentive post-production aesthetic, colourful motifs and vocal samples lifting it above the crop of practitioners in the same field. ‘Ahora’ and ‘After Mutation’ are particular highlights, balancing the right amount of synthetic pads and melodic snippets with a dancefloor-primed approach.
