Aïsha Devi is an expert on energy, and with her commission for the BBC Concert Orchestra she fuses the energies of the club and the classical concert into one. Aethernal Score is all at once a nail biting cinematic soundtrack and a chamber rave, with epic movements of looming slurred notes and ballistic rhythms, and a ‘Solo Computer’ set of razed synths as an alternate dimension blueprint. The hermetic monologue of ‘Time (Tool) intones over droning strings, morphing into the orchestral rave arpeggios of ‘Two Serpents Theme’ with ice cold blasts of air, tension fuelled brass contrast against processed vocals propelled upwards.
