The enigmatic Dallas, Texas based producer Gerard Hanson (aka Convextion) returns to his electro alter ego E.R.P. for a new LP on the recently relaunched Apnea label entitled Faded Caprice. Though hardly prolific, Hanson has cultivated a small but mighty coterie over his nearly three decades of music production, and it's easy to see why when he churns out such class time after time. Faded Caprice finds E.R.P. in a particularly equable mood, favouring languid tempos and jaunty vibes (at least by electro standards), as cosigned by track titles like ‘Lets Amble’ and ‘Comfortable Pants’. Don’t mistake the relative chill for complacency though: you could still bounce a coin off the spring-y acid bass and taut kick drums.
